Most Asked.

THE ANSWERS YOU MAY WANT BEFORE YOU CHOOSE

What is O'Milo jewelry made from?

Precious metals, always. Brass, stainless steel and mixed base metals, never. Our jewelry is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver, 18K gold vermeil at 2.5 microns, and 0.5 microns rhodium-plated silver. Every product page includes the exact materials, stones or pearls, dimensions, and weight of the piece.

What is gold vermeil?

Vermeil is a standard, not a marketing word. It requires a solid 925 sterling silver base and a layer of real gold at least 2.5 microns thick. We use 18K gold at that thickness. Ordinary gold plating is usually much thinner and often applied over brass, stainless steel or other base metals. The result is jewelry that retains its beauty for longer and can be cherished for years to come.

What is rhodium plating?

Rhodium is a rare precious metal from the platinum family. Applied over solid 925 sterling silver, it gives jewelry a bright, cool white finish while helping to slow the natural tarnishing of silver. We use a 0.5-micron layer of rhodium—significantly thicker than the coatings commonly found on plated jewelry.

Is O'Milo suitable for sensitive ears?

Our pieces are nickel- and lead-free and made from precious metals only. We use solid 925 sterling silver, 18K gold vermeil over sterling silver, and rhodium-plated sterling silver—all of which are widely recognised as hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive ears. While individual sensitivities can never be ruled out completely, true allergies to these precious metals are rare.

Are earrings sold as a pair?

Yes — unless a product page clearly states otherwise.

How will I know how large or heavy an earring feels?

Each product page lists exact dimensions and weight, alongside on-ear photographs wherever possible. Because everyone’s ear shape and piercing placement are unique, a piece can look slightly different from one person to another — which is why checking the listed dimensions is the best guide. If you are unsure about the scale or fit of a design, contact us before ordering and we will gladly help.

Can I wear O'Milo jewelry in water?

Brief, incidental contact is no cause for concern. What shortens the life of a finish is not time but chlorine, salt water, cosmetics and heat — so take your earrings off before showering, swimming or exercising. On last, after perfume. Off first, before the shower.

Can I return earrings after trying them on?

Yes. We encourage you to try them on at home and decide at your own mirror. Because earrings come into direct contact with the skin, they must only have been tried on briefly—not worn outside or for any length of time—and must be returned clean, undamaged, in their original packaging, within 30 days of delivery.

Is shipping free and how long will my order take to arrive?

Free worldwide, tracked and insured, with no minimum. In-stock pieces leave our Berlin studio within one to three working days. Your estimated delivery date is shown at checkout, based on your shipping address.

What if something is wrong with the piece?

Every piece carries a two-year warranty against manufacturing defects, beginning the day it arrives. If a fault is ours, we'll make it right.

Will O'Milo introduce solid gold & diamonds?

Yes. Many of our bestsellers will soon be available in solid yellow and white gold, set with lab-grown diamonds — each certified by IGI. Dates go to our newsletter first.

Jewelry & Materials.

WHAT EACH PIECE IS ACTUALLY MADE OF

What is 925 sterling silver?

Silver in its pure form is too soft to hold a shape. Sterling silver is 92.5 percent pure silver, alloyed with a small amount of harder metal for strength — the 925 stamp is the mark of it. Ours is recycled, which means the same metal, without new mining.

Are your pieces nickel- & lead-free?

Yes. O'Milo pieces are made without nickel, and are designed for ears that refuse most other jewelry.

Are your pearls natural?

When a design features freshwater pearls, they are cultured freshwater pearls rather than imitation pearls. Their shape, surface, and tone may vary slightly because each pearl forms naturally. We match every pair as closely as possible while preserving this individual character.

What stones do you use?

The exact stone is always identified on the individual product page. Depending on the design, this may include cubic zirconia, cultured freshwater pearls, natural gemstones, or laboratory-grown diamonds.

Will gold vermeil fade or tarnish?

Gold itself does not tarnish. What changes is the layer — 2.5 microns of it, thinning slowly with friction over years of wear, and where it eventually wears thinnest the silver beneath begins to show. How long that takes depends on skin chemistry, moisture and cosmetics far more than on time. Kept away from water and beauty products, a piece holds its finish far longer than you'd expect.

Will sterling silver tarnish?

In time, yes. Silver reacts with the air around it and darkens — oxidation, a characteristic of this metal. It polishes away. Rhodium plating helps slow this process, while careful storage and regular gentle cleaning help preserve the finish.

Where is the jewelry made?

O'Milo is a Berlin brand. Every design begins here, and some pieces are made here too, in our own atelier. Others come from trusted partner workshops — in Germany, Europe, and further afield — each chosen for a particular craft. Wherever a piece is made, it passes three quality checks before it reaches you: after production, during finishing and polishing, and once more in Berlin before it is carefully packed.

Care, Wear & Fit.

HOW TO KEEP YOUR PIECES FOR YEARS RATHER THAN SEASONS

How should I care for my jewelry?

On last, off first. After perfume, cream and hairspray in the morning; before the shower, the pool, the gym and sleep at night. Store each piece on its own, somewhere dry — the box it arrives in is made for exactly that.

How should I clean gold vermeil?

A soft, dry, lint-free cloth after wearing is all it needs. Avoid silver dip, metal polish, ultrasonic cleaners and treated polishing cloths. Each is abrasive to some degree, and abrasion is the one thing a gold layer cannot withstand.

How should I clean rhodium-plated silver?

Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wearing. If it needs more, use lukewarm water with a little mild soap, then dry it thoroughly. Avoid silver dip, abrasive polishes and ultrasonic cleaners—rhodium is a plated finish and will gradually wear over time.

How should I care for pearls?

Gently. Pearls are organic gemstones, and perfume, skincare, hairspray, heat and prolonged contact with water can dull their natural lustre. Wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth and let them dry. Never soak pearls or use jewelry cleaners or polish on them.

Can I sleep or exercise in my jewelry?

Better not. A night of pressure and a session of sweat and friction do more to a piece than months of ordinary wear — bent posts, loosened clasps, a finish worn thin ahead of its time. And a hoop can catch on a pillow, a collar, a strap or a towel with more force than you would expect. Taking earrings off is as much for your ears as for the jewelry.

Can I shower or swim in my jewelry?

We recommend taking them off first. Chlorine, salt water, soap and cosmetics are what shorten the life of gold vermeil or rhodium — not time. A simple habit: Earrings on last, after perfume, skincare and hairspray. Earrings off first, before showering, swimming or going to bed.

What should I do if a clasp feels loose?

Stop wearing it until it has been checked. Hoop closures can shift slightly through everyday wear or storage and often need only a small adjustment. Send us a short video and we'll let you know whether you can safely adjust it yourself or whether it should come back to us.

What should I do if a post bends?

Sterling silver and gold are softer than steel, so a fine post can bend if it is pressed, caught or stored under pressure. Repeatedly bending it back and forth is what causes it to break, as metal gradually fatigues. Before trying to straighten it yourself, send us a clear photo or short video and we'll advise you on the safest solution.

Can O'Milo jewelry be repaired?

Often, yes—and that's one of the advantages of precious metals. A bent post can often be straightened, a clasp resoldered, or a loose stone reset. These are repairs that are often impossible with base-metal jewellery. Repairs outside our warranty are available for a fee, quoted individually. Start by sending us a clear photo. If we can assess the damage from that, we'll provide an estimate. If not, you're welcome to send the piece to our Berlin atelier for inspection. We'll provide a quotation before any work begins, and nothing goes ahead without your approval.

Shipping & Tracking.

FROM OUR BERLIN STUDIO TO YOUR DOOR

Where do you ship from?

Every order is packed and sent from Berlin, Germany.

Is shipping free?

Yes — worldwide, no minimum, tracked and insured. Express is offered at checkout where available, for when the date matters.

How long before my order is sent?

In-stock pieces leave us within one to three working days, Monday to Friday. Pre-order and made-to-order pieces carry their own dispatch date, shown on the product page or confirmed by email.

When will my order arrive?

The most relevant delivery estimate for your address is shown at checkout using live carrier data. As a general guide after dispatch, delivery usually takes 2–3 business days within Germany, 4–7 business days within Europe, 7–14 business days to the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania, and 10–15 business days to other destinations. These are estimates and may be affected by customs or local postal services.

How do I track my order?

You'll receive a tracking link by email as soon as your parcel leaves us. We ship with DHL Premium worldwide, except for the United States, where orders are sent with Transglobal Express. Once your parcel reaches its destination country, it is usually transferred to the local postal service for final delivery. The same tracking number generally continues to work on the local carrier's website.

What If tracking stops updating?

A pause is normal while a parcel crosses a border or waits to be scanned by the local carrier. Give it 24 to 48 hours for a new scan. If nothing has moved after that, write to us and we will chase it.

Will I pay customs duties or import taxes?

Within the European Union, duties and taxes are included in the price you pay. For orders to the United Kingdom valued up to £150, we collect UK VAT, so no additional import charges are due on delivery. For orders to the United States, we cover all import duties, tariffs and taxes, so there are no additional charges on delivery. For all other destinations, local duties and taxes may apply and are customer's responsibility.

What If my parcel is lost or arrives damaged?

Every shipment is insured. If your parcel appears lost or arrives damaged, contact us within seven days of the last tracking scan or delivery and include photographs where relevant. We will open an investigation with the carrier and, once the claim is confirmed, arrange a replacement or refund.

What If I entered the wrong address?

Contact us as soon as possible. We can correct an address only before the order has been dispatched. If a parcel is returned because it was refused, unclaimed, or addressed incorrectly, a handling fee of €5 within Germany or €10 internationally will be deducted from the refund.

Returns, Exchanges & Refunds.

DECIDE AT YOUR MIRROR. 30 DAYS TO BE SURE

What is your return policy?

Eligible items may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund to the original payment method or O’Milo store credit. Pieces must come back unworn, clean and undamaged, in their original box and with everything that came with them.

Can I return earrings after trying them on?

You may carefully try the earrings on for a few moments at home in front of a mirror. Wearing them outside, for an occasion, overnight, or for an extended period counts as wear and makes them ineligible for return.

How do I start a return?

Sign in to your O’Milo account with the email address used for the order, open it, and select Request return beside the piece you want to send back. Or simply write to us. We review requests within three days and send the instructions once approved.

Who pays for return shipping?

Customers cover the cost and responsibility of return postage unless the item is incorrect. We strongly recommend using a tracked service, as we cannot refund a return that does not reach us.

Do you offer exchanges?

Not directly. Once your return is approved and received, choose a refund or store credit, then order the piece you would rather have.

When will I receive my refund?

Once your return reaches our Berlin studio, it is inspected and the refund is processed within 10–14 business days. Your bank or card provider may need a few additional days to show the funds in your account.

What cannot be returned?

We cannot accept pieces that have been worn, damaged, bent, altered, or returned incomplete. Personalised or custom-made pieces, gift cards, free gifts, and items marked final sale are not returnable. Your statutory rights are unaffected.

What if my piece arrives damaged or incorrect?

Write to us with your order number and clear photographs or a short video. If the item is incorrect, we will cover the return cost and arrange a replacement or a refund.

How do I return an order from outside the EU?

Mark the customs declaration clearly as Returned Goods — this is what keeps the parcel from picking up import charges on its way back to Germany. Please keep your tracking and proof of postage until the return has been completed.

Warranty & Aftercare.

OUR PROMISE AFTER YOUR PIECE ARRIVES

What does the two-year warranty cover?

Every piece is carefully inspected before it leaves our Berlin atelier, so faults on arrival are rare. The warranty covers what an inspection cannot always reveal: manufacturing defects that only become apparent with wear. Every O'Milo piece is covered by a two-year warranty from the day your order is delivered. This includes faults such as a clasp that fails, soldering that gives way, a post or chain that breaks because of how it was made, or a pearl or stone that comes loose due to a manufacturing defect. If the fault is ours, we'll repair, replace or refund the piece at no cost to you.

What is not covered?

The warranty does not cover normal wear, fine scratches, oxidation, gradual fading of vermeil, accidental damage, bending, crushing, snagging, improper care, chemical or water damage, third-party alterations, loss, or theft.

How do I make a warranty claim?

Write to us with your order number, a short and honest account of what happened, and clear photographs or a brief video. Keep every part of the piece — backs, clasps, chains, stones, pearls — and wait for our instructions before sending anything.

What happens after I make a claim?

We will review the information and confirm the next step. If inspection is needed, we will explain how to send the piece to us. Approved manufacturing defects will be repaired or replaced; if neither is possible, we will offer an appropriate alternative such as store credit or a refund.

What if I no longer have my order number?

Write to us using the email address you used at checkout and include your full name or the delivery address from your order. We'll find it for you.

Are gifts covered by the warranty?

Yes. The warranty follows the piece, not the person who paid — two years from the original delivery date, with the order number or gift receipt.

Do you offer repairs outside the warranty?

Often, yes. One of the advantages of precious metals is that they can often be repaired rather than replaced. Depending on the piece, a bent post may be straightened, a clasp resoldered, a loose stone reset, or worn gold vermeil professionally replated. We are currently developing a dedicated jewelry renewal service. Until then, if you have a piece that needs attention, simply send us a photo or video. If a repair is possible, we'll let you know and provide a quotation. If we need to examine the piece first, we'll invite you to send it to our Berlin atelier. No work is carried out without your approval.

Orders, Payments & Gifts.

We'll check whether your order was received, your payment was successful, and resend the confirmation if needed.

If a split shipment is possible, we'll let you know by email.
